Stories a Lug can tell.....

Originally Written on May 9, 2017

One of the first aspects I was taught to look at in a Tractor, was ........... Guess what - Not Engine, HP, Pulling Capacity, Use, Condition, Model popularity etc. It was about deducing information from mere look at the Tractor Tyres.

Many of my trainees have asked why is this important ? It is a method of validation. Validating information that a customer is declaring. Need and Usage as we all would know are critical components of Loan Viability Assessment and this information are elicited completely on declaration basis.

The objective of this little writing is to highlight, that validation of information is possible in a templated manner from the type of tyre and lug patterns.

Essentially, Three Types of Tyres are used in a Tractor - R1, R3 and  R4. While lot of detailed study further is possible, we stick to basics and not the advanced reading techniques.

R4 - Industrial / Commercial Usage
R4 - Industrial / Commercial Usage
R3 - Turf - Elite and Niche Usage
R3 - Turf - Elite and Niche Usage

Every Lug, Every Tyre has a story to say..... Its Width, Type, Diameter, Lug depth, Gap between Lugs, Radial / Bias Model, Brand - have all beautiful narratives.

Each of these are capable of spelling out the real and major purpose for which the tractor will be put to. How many of us have actually spent time looking for them ? Why not start today ?
